Driving Programme

In October 2008, GDYS launched a pilot driving programme where after a course of ten weeks training in road safety, car maintenance and driver awareness GDYS will fund the driver theory test and two driving lessons for each participant. It is hoped that through education and training on the issues of road safety and driver awareness and responsibility the danger both to young drivers and other road users will be lessened, helping to promote safer road conditions for all. The programme was very successful in terms of attendance, participation and completion of the programme and the feedback from the young people concerned was extremely positive. Participants were treated to a go-karting trip on completion of the programme.
